Crisis Pregnancy HotLine!

I don't think I have mentioned that I have signed on to answer the phones for a Crisis Pregnancy Hotline on Mondays. The calls get forwarded to my cell phone. I totally forgot about it until Shanesha called and left me some crazy message about her 5 children needing healthcare or somehthing like that...! I have to remember to pick up my phone. I am one of those people that do not answer the phone unless I know who it is...

Anyhow, I got another call from an 18 year old who is being thrown out of her house because she refuses to have an abortion. Her parents are upset that the "father" is black and she is white...forget the part about him being in jail for drugs and already having another child that he does not take care of...they seem to only be worried about his color. So, anyway she is living in a motel and is 4 1/2 month pregnant. I managed to slip in about her thoughts on adoption...but she told me she could never do that...well, I congratulated her on begin courageous and choosing life for her unborn child...

I'll give her the chastity talk when I call her back once I have found her a place to stay!

I am on page 66 on Inconceivable. She is now jumping rope...something about shaking up the organs! So, I ran today. That should do the same thing.... She is also doing yoga. Anyone do yoga?? Or have a good video to recommend for yoga? I do not have the extra money to take a class....but I think stretching is a good thing...so...anyone?????

  1. Oh my gosh, this post is hilarious.

You talk about the hotline and then go right into the book you are reading!

Well, god love that little girl, she is very courageous! A mothers love is so beautifully being lived out in her precious little soul!

  2. Poor girl. Hope you find her a place to stay.

No help with the yoga. I could never find a DVD that would just do the yoga without all the spiritual/centering stuff . . . . wait, maybe I missed the point of yoga.

  3. Sew/Ann: Yes...she is courageous. I found her a place in a Mother's Home for Unwed Mothers. She has an interview their tomorrow. I think she is a bit of an emergency since she was kicked out of her house.

I did just jump into the book...didn't I? Ha! It's all about ME!

And I don't like that centering stuff either..

  4. I love me some yoga tapes :)

I have a great one geared toward fertility (it talks about the pelvic floor a lot... I don't know what that is, but it must be good!)

It's called Bend, Breathe, and Conceive, and it's from FairHaven health or something to that nature. You can google it, I'm sure.

A great beginner's tape would be something with Suzanne Deason. She has 3 women do the poses with her, at different modification levels, so you can go at your own pace and never strain yourself. I have the one entitled "Yoga for Weight Loss," but it's a bunch of toxin-squeezing poses which I'm sure are good for overall health and wellbeing, not just weight loss.

  5. I do yoga by video. Usually, one of the Yoga Zone videos. I don't know what it does for IF since I've been doing it for years (still an amature, by the way), but it certaily helps with posture and flexibility.

More power to you with the pregnancy hotline. I couldn't do it, so I can only stand in awe of those who do.

  6. Glad you are helping young women in crisis - how rewarding to know that you are making a difference in the life of a young mother and child.

As for yoga, I sometimes follow along on Fi.tTV and also have the book "Woman's Bo.ok of Yoga and H.ealth". I would recommend going to a studio at least once to have the instructor help you "feel" the poses correctly. Many studios will offer a free trial class for newbies - just call beforehand and tell them you are interested in trying it out. As for the spiritual side of yoga, I use it as a time to focus on the awesomeness of God.
